autogato: no idea how the flower smells - I got this off the web.
Do you have a Trader Joe's nearby? They sell a tiny bottle of excellent Spanish saffron for under $5. Highly recommended. Else try a local Indian grocery store.
Unfortunately, there's no Trader Joe nearby. Actually, I've never heard of them. And nope, no Indian grocery store, either. Not much kicking in this city! Maybe next time I drive down to New Orleans.
My ex would cook things for me sometimes with saffron. They were divine. Of course, he was one hell of a kick ass cook.

oooooooooooh Saffron. I love the stuff, but it's so bloddy expensive that I can't afford to cook with it.
And, apparently, in its flower source it is also quite BEAUTIFUL.
Is the flower as fragrant as the spice?
